What you'll find in our Manufacturing Section

Manufacturing is a fascinating subject, which continues to be the backbone of successful economies and for that you only need think of Germany - the powerhouse of Europe.

When I write "fascinating" though I can hear one or two of my readers groaning, so allow me to explain how a vast furnace of smelting iron is fascinating - well, it isn't I'll confess, but what is certainly interesting is the view that some great nations like the United Kingdom were in fact held back by the vast wealth gap of the late 1700's when historians feel that most wealth was held by the crown - now that's a interesting thought!

Thus on that basis, is it not surprising that many of the great advances in manufacturing process would be put to most effective use most speedily in the States. Whether you're producing cardboard boxes or motorcars though, it's all manufacturing although one big difference could be that between contract manufacture where a company is paid to manufacture a product that has been designed by someone for their own use or application, but perhaps don't have the manufacturing facilities to produce it.

By comparison, Ford research their market and decide what types of cars their customers are likely to buy, then design them and manufacture them at their own risk. Risk that is of them not selling well.
